“God Is Nigh”
Scripture: Psalm 145:18

“The Lord is nigh unto all them that call upon him, to all that call upon him in truth.”

Devotion:
Psalm 145:18 speaks of a beautiful truth: God is nigh to all who call on Him. Nigh simply means near and He promises to always be near if we seek Him wholeheartedly. Going through life each day with so many things going on and being turned in so many directions and having so much on your mind, it can sometimes slip our minds that God is just a prayer away. He is always waiting to hear from us. God is not some being on a high perch who never listens, He is a loving Father who seeks to be close with us each and every day.

The key part of this verse is the phrase "in truth." When we call on God “in truth” we are being sincere and honest and acknowledging the sovereignty and supremacy of God. We are to humble ourselves before Him and reverence His majesty when we come to Him. We should not be pretending, for God knows our hearts, our thoughts, and everything about us. We should be coming to Him in any time – good or bad, happy or sad, up or down – knowing and believing that He will hear us, never leave us and always be near us.

Prayer:
Lord, thank You for being near to me. Thank You for always hearing when I call. Thank You for giving me Your strength, wisdom, love, joy and so much more. Help me to share this good news with all that I encounter. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
