“Be Satisfied”
Scripture: Psalm 36:8

 “They shall be abundantly satisfied with the fatness of thy house; and thou shalt make them drink of the river of thy pleasures.”

Devotion:
Why is it so hard for people to be content? It seems as if most people want to get more more more. In our scripture today, and in the preceding scriptures, the Bible speaks of those who seek to be greater than what they are. It speaks of them flattering themselves and speaking evil and sinful things. In the transitory verses, however, it speaks of God’s mercy and righteousness and then speaks to how God blesses if we would only put our trust in Him.

Satisfaction is a state of mind. This may seem strange to some; however, let’s think about it. There are people with everything they could ever imagine in this world and they are sad, lonely and sometimes do the unthinkable. Now if satisfaction were based upon things or stuff or money, they would be on top of the world, yet they are empty and broken. What’s missing is Jesus! Whether I have $2 in the bank or $2000, I am still satisfied because I know things come and go, but the contentment that Jesus brings to my life will be there no matter what. All I have to do is to continue to lean on and trust in Him and He will satisfy me. And you can take that to the bank.

Prayer:
God, thank You for giving us everything that we need. Thank You for Your satisfaction that cannot come from things. Help us to be content just where You have placed us, knowing that YOU will elevate us in due season. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
