Daily Devotional - Discipleship - WK32 - 08/05/24 - Day 197 “Keep the Faith”

“Keep the Faith”
Scripture: “Thou therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus. And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also.” (2 Timothy 2:1-2 KJV)

Devotional:
Today’s scripture is one of encouragement. Paul is telling Timothy to keep the faith. He encourages Timothy to use his life as an example to follow and to teach others the word of God. Then, they will also become faithful teachers of the word of God to others. As I was working on today’s devotional, I came across a quote from author Bill Hull that summed up my thoughts completely; it simply states, “ Success should be measured not by how many disciples are made, but by how many disciples are making other disciples.” If we really begin to look at things from a kingdom mindset, then we all would take the Great Commission to heart. Jesus said go spread His story and make disciples all over the world. That commission was for every follower of Christ, not just leaders holding titles, but everyone! Discipleship equals discipline. That means that even when I don’t feel like it, I am still charged to extend grace, show love, encourage someone else in the Lord, read my word, pray, and seek God daily. How often do we witness to someone outside of our own circle of comfort? The witness could be an encouraging word of faith, a hot meal, a hospital visit, or a word of prayer. As believers we know for ourselves just how good God is and what He’s done for us. Just as Paul’s life was a witness for Timothy and others to follow, our lives are a witness for the people we encounter every day.
 
Prayer:
Lord, help me to keep the faith and encourage others in my life to follow You. Amen..
