“From Sinners to Saints: Real Love”

Scripture:
 “But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” (Romans 5:8 KJV)

 Devotional:
Love is a word that is often used casually, and sometimes even misused in our society. People will say I love your shoes, I love that dress, and I love this or that, etc. Love is one of the greatest commandments given to us by God, and yet if we were to look around at the state of this world today, we probably could all declare that we see little love being displayed in how people treat each other. However, if you were to ask me what ‘real love’ is, my answer would consistently be the same. Genuine love equals God’s love for us. He literally loved us when we didn’t have the sense enough to love ourselves, and we allowed sin to corrupt our lives. Real love was shown to me when God didn’t give me what I deserved. Instead, He gave me His grace and His mercy. God didn’t forsake me in the midst of my sin, instead He kept knocking on the door of my heart until I was wise enough to accept Him into my life. God did not have to send His Sson to redeem us, but I’m so glad He did. If God can love us at our worst, then we can take that same love and extend it to others as well.

Prayer:
Thank You, Lord, for loving me despite of me. Help me show Your love to others in all that I do and speak. Amen
