Hold On It Won’t Be Long

Scripture: Matthew 24:13 – "But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved."

Devotion:  As a child, I remember the saints of old singing a song that said, “I believe I will run on and see what the end is going to be.” When we first received Christ into our hearts, we were overwhelmed with joy, love, and peace. Nothing bothered us.  When people talked about us, we said, “Forgive them Lord, they don’t know any better.” When people mistreated and used us, we prayed for God to bless them. But as time passed and the days became weeks, and then months, and then years; that fire we had for the Lord began to wax cold.  And the things we were so quick to forgive, we now start to keep account of, and forget that we aren’t perfect, and every day we must ask for forgiveness.
 
It is not how we start this journey, but how we deal with the transition that we will endure as we go through the process of this journey called life.  We will hear of all kinds of false teachings and words that may tickle our ears, but we must know what the Word of God says, and stay true to it until the end, if we want to see Him.

Prayer:  Lord Jesus, help us to hold on to what we know is right, regardless of what we hear and how good it may sound.  Many false prophets are in the land, and they are trying to confuse the minds of Your people.  Help us to stay in Your Word so that we may live by it until the end, so that we can be with You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
